Pachapapa Restaurant, Cuzco, Peru

On paper Pachapapa has it all: a great location in historic and atmospheric San Blas; colourfully decorated indoor dining areas and shady outdoor seating; a huge wood oven for their signature dishes like roasted beef tenderloin and whole roasted guinea pigs; and friendly, attentive staff. No wonder visitors to Cusco flock to this place.

But like any good recipe, it takes more than a bunch of quality ingredients to turn a recipe into a great meal and somehow, the ‘whole’ of my experience at Pachapapa turned out to be rather less than the sum of its parts.

Plazoleta de San Blas
San Blas is located within the Historic Center of Cusco, this neighborhood is often referred to as the cultural and artistic district where you’ll find famous artisans, coffee shops, galleries, and more.

  • Here you’ll find some art galleries and artisan handicraft shops that you can’t leave behind if you’re looking for the best souvenir.
  • San Blas is also known for its colonial architecture which comprehends cobbled and narrow streets throughout the whole neighborhood.
