Pak Ou Village (Mouth of the Ou River Village)

Pak Ou (mouth of the Ou river) village is a small, quiet village at the confluence of the Maekong and the Nam Ou river.

It is the place of passage, towards the caves located on the other bank of the Maekong, for tourists who came by road.

The temple is of great beauty and was probably built around the 18th century and enlarged in the 20th century.

The wat was built in the pure Luang Phabang style. It is one of the most beautiful temples in the region, unlike Luang Phabang where the temples have been largely modified over time, Vat Pak Ou keeps its authenticity intact.
