Laos, officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR or LPDR), is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia, surrounded by Burma (or Myanmar) and China to the northwest, Thailand to the west, Cambodia to the south and Vietnam to the east. The city of Vientiane is its capital, the official language is Lao, the official currency is the kip. Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand, is a country in Southeast Asia. Bangkok's city pillar shrine (also known as san lak muang) is one of the most ancient, sacred, and magnificent city pillar shrines in Thailand.
