The patron saint of the village is St. Catherine of Alexandria.
-
St. Catherine of Alexandria (also spelled Katherine) is, according to
tradition, a Christian saint and virgin, who was martyred in the early
fourth century at the hands of the emperor Maxentius.
-
According to her hagiography, she was both a princess and a noted
scholar who became a Christian around the age of 14, converted
hundreds of people to Christianity and was martyred around the age of
eighteen.
-
More than 1,100 years after Catherine's martyrdom, Joan of Arc
identified her as one of the saints who appeared to and counselled
her.

Guatemala Worry Dolls.
Worry dolls (also named "trouble dolls"; Spanish
Muñeca quitapena, "Doll remover of grief") are small, mostly
hand-made dolls that originate from the highland indigenous people of
Guatemala.
- The sign says the following.
-
«GUATEMALA WORRY DOLL - There is a legend amongst the Highland Indian
villages of Guatemala: "if you have a problem, then share it with a
worry doll. Before going to bed, tell one worry to each doll, then
place them beneath your pillow. Whilst you sleep, the dolls will take
your worries away."»
-
In Santa Catarina Palopo these dolls are sold in groups of 4 dolls,
each measuring 1 cm (0.4 in), inside small colored bags, suitable for
placing under the pillow at night.
